Stories from ananova.com:
Chase that donkey!

Four cop cars took over an hour to catch a gang of teenage thieves who had escaped on a cart pulled by a donkey.

Officers from the Greek town of Patras said they were unable to keep up with the donkey which the boys steered down the old town’s winding streets and narrow alleyways.

The chase, which one eyewitness described as “unbelievable”, only came to an end an hour later when the young thieves, aged between 13 and 15 turned into a dead end.

Police caught the trio with a safe stolen from the local hospital on the back of their cart.

Girl sold camcorder – with mum’s sex film inside

A Canadian teenager is in trouble after selling her mum’s camcorder – with a home made blue movie still inside.

The mother did not even know the camera was missing until her boyfriend complained the video was going around town.

The film showed the mother and her boyfriend engaged in an intimate act, reports Canadian Press.

The daughter, now 19, of Peterborough, Ontario, admitted she’d taken the camera from her mother’s bedroom closet and sold it to a friend for £100.

The mother called police and her daughter was charged with theft.

Lawyer Robert Beninger said his client didn’t know the tape was in the camera.

“It’s an unfortunate byproduct of her taking the camera,” he said.

‘Police? My onion rings are cold!’

A US woman was arrested for calling 911 after a restaurant served her cold onion rings.

Sharita Williams, 30, of Houma, Louisiana, told police the food was cold when she received it and the waiter refused to replace it.

So she dialled 911 from the Malt-N-Burger restaurant in Thibodaux, reports the Daily Comet.

Police turned up – but only to arrest Williams for wasting police time. She is due in court in December.

Rugby fan tells how he lost his tackle

A Welsh rugby fan has spoken out about how he hacked off his own testicles after his team beat England.

Geoffrey Huish, 31, took an agonising ten minutes to perform the op using a pair of blunt wire cutters, says the Sun.

Then he put his severed parts in a blue plastic bag and staggered to a social club to tell fellow Wales fans what he’d done.

Jobless Geoffrey finally collapsed with blood pouring from his groin as horrified drinkers put his testicles in a pint glass of ice.

They were handed to paramedics who rushed him to hospital – but surgeons could not sew them back.

Geoffrey, of Senghenydd, spent several months in a psychiatric unit as experts tried to fathom his actions.

He said: “I’d told my pal Gethin Probert before the game that Wales didn’t stand a chance. It wasn’t a bet, but I said I’d cut my balls off if we won…

“So I started hacking away at my tackle. It took about ten minutes and there was quite a lot of pain — but I just kept going.

“The cutters were blunt so I had to keep snipping. I cut my penis as well. There was a lot of blood but not as much as you would expect.”

He added: “I think about what happened every day and still haven’t come up with a good reason why. I’d had a lot going on and felt a bit down. I can’t have kids now, but still want a family. Maybe I’ll adopt.”

Big buzz over iPod sex toy

Boffins have invented a sex toy that connects up to an iPod and vibrates in time to the music.

The vibrations get faster as the music gets louder on the £25 iBuzz, reports the Sun Online.

Ali Carnegie, of adult-store http://www.LoveHoney.co.uk, said the firm is already on the verge of selling out of the bullet-sized device before Christmas.

She said its inconspicuous design has been a big winner with women and claims the sex toy, totally unrelated to Apple, is perfect for giving users “big smiles on their way to work”.

Jessamy Hawley, of Gadget Candy – a technology website aimed at women – believes combining two female passions is sure to prove a No1 hit.

She added: “The iPod is this era’s must-have accessory, while a vibrator is a timeless addition to every girl’s gadget drawer.

“Entwine the two and you’ve got the ultimate cheeky Christmas stocking filler.”

Police leave drugs in bag of girl, 10

A drugs squad officer left a packet of speed in a 10-year-old schoolgirl’s bag after a drugs awareness lesson.

The police officer put three packets of the drug in her bag but after the demonstration took back only two, reports the Mirror.

Kia Butterfield did not find the amphetamine until she got back to her home in Wainfleet, near Skegness.

Her mum Amanda, 33, said: “I still can’t get my head around this – an officer gave my daughter a bag of hard drugs. If your kids aren’t safe from drugs on a day out with police, when are they safe?

“My three-year-old was playing at the table where those drugs were. She could have mistaken it for a bag of sherbet and swallowed it. That could have been fatal.”

The officer put the drugs in Kia’s bag to demonstrate how sniffer dogs worked during a seminar for primary schoolchildren at a Butlins camp.

The youngster said: “I thought he had taken out all the drugs when he handed my bag back. I got home and put it on the kitchen table near where my sister was playing.

“An hour later I went to get a pencil and found this plastic bag with powder in. I knew it was the drugs, so I told my dad.”

Chief Supt Dave Wheeler of Lincolnshire Police said: “It was a training exercise for the dog and education for the children, but what happened shouldn’t have happened.”

Fire eater set stripper’s boobs alight

A fire eater has been given a suspended jail sentence for setting a stripper’s boobs on fire.

Dancer Maria Leeb, 27, was tied to a pole wearing just her g-string while her fire-eating partner blew flames at her.

But the hot new act in a lap-dancing club in Augsburg, Germany, came to a painful end when her naked breasts went up in flames.

Flame thrower Marc Miszler, 22, was handed a 10 month suspended jail sentence for grievous bodily harm by the Augsburg County Court.

“I shouted at him that he was getting too close, but he didn’t stop. The oil and glitter that I rubbed on my body must have caught on fire and all I could see were flames,” said Ms Leeb.

She suffered burns across her breasts and was treated at a local hospital.

TV station broadcast porn instead of news

Viewers tuning in for the evening news in India were shocked when they were left watching a Russian porn movie.

Angry residents in Kailaras, who wanted to watch an English-language news report, blame the mix-up on technicians from the Kailaras relay station.

They believe the workers had been using the station’s facilities to watch XXX films broadcast from Russia.

Hundreds of locals took to the streets afterwards demanding the technicians be sacked.

TV station regional manager Man Singh Verma said: “An initial probe confirms negligence on the part of the relay station staff in transmitting pornographic material from a Russian TV channel instead of the news from Indian channel DD-1.

“We are taking statements from staff members and punitive action will be taken against those responsible.”

Lawnmower used in border run

Two Chinese men have been arrested after trying to sneak across the border into Russia on a lawnmower.

They tried to tell border guards at the Slavyanka border post in Khasansky County in Russia’s Far East that they had got lost while cutting the grass.

Russian border police said it was not the first time they had had to deal with rogue gardeners from China.

A spokesman said: “We have issued a number of warnings to our opposite numbers in China, but despite that they seem to have no control over the apparent nomadic habits of their gardening nationals.”

Footy fan’s quest backfires

A football fan’s quest to photograph every ground in Britain led to disaster when police smashed in his door and arrested him.

Colin Peel, 38, was mistaken for a heroin dealer when he was spotted taking shots of Bedford Town’s Eyrie stadium.

The innocent consumer adviser was arrested at home and held for five hours before being freed on bail. He was not finally cleared for eight weeks.

Bedfordshire Police later apologised and agreed to pay for his door.

But Mr Peel, of Erdington, Birmingham, accused them of failing to make basic checks before the raid.

He added: “Police should take greater care before destroying someone’s front door and violently arresting them.”
