It’s been almost 2 years since i bought my classic car and i am finally reaching a point where i am making real progress. The engine bay is pretty much finished, all that is left to do is finish the filler on the wing and a little of the paintwork on the front panel and a the whole front end can be primered and the engine bay finally painted.

We put down the first layer of red oxide primer today, it took me hours and hours to do the engine bay since there isn’t really room for any power tools in there so it all has to be done by hand. Not to mention it was a mess, i was naive when i got the car and tried to primer over a lot of underseal and it was just generally a bad job. Time has passed though and i learned my lesson on how to prepare a car for paint, and once the primer has been rubbed down and the grey primer is put on top of that and rubbed down again i wil finally get to see what some fresh paint looks like on the car and dub the engine bay “complete!”.

I also cut out the rot in the rear quarter that i found and Sean said he will draw up a template to cut some metal to the exact size so we can get a nice clean weld. It won’t be an easy job to repair the panel and make it look right but i have every confidence he can do it, his welding has improved dramatically since i got the car, but i’m guessing it’s maybe since my car needed so much of it.

I guess that’s it for today, i also kind of gave up on my grapefruit diet thing on day 5, it was just killing my soul and i didn’t have energy since there was no carbohydrates on the menu, heres hoping i haven’t gained or anything though.
