Onward and Upward - A Biography of Katharine S. White - Linda H. Davis - 1987 White was fiction editor of The New Yorker for many years. Nice, nice story. Not a charmed life, for sure, but an interesting and rewarding one.
-
Vicious Circle - Wilbur Smith - 2013. A thriller by an author who has written many other thrillers. Very readable… one page after another with an unexpected twist at the end of an obvious ending. Note: the woman turns the hero down at the end because he kills people - even if the people need killing.
-
O’Hara’s Choice - Leon Uris - 2003. Uris, known for writting Exodus and Trinity, was a young US Marine in the WWII Pacific. This novel is about the USMC during and after the Civil War. It explains the purpose and use of that kind of mysterious military branch. My husband was a peace-time Marina e - 1959- 1963. He played a lot of golf.

The Book of Illusions - Paul Auster - 2002. I feel like I discovered Auster. He had a tragic life and I”m sorry he’s dead. The novel is readable and I’ve got a comfortable ways to go.
