How does one celebrate the holidays when one is poly?
Very, very intentionally.
When one has more than one partner, the holidays can get tricky. Are you out to your family? Is your partner out to theirs? Which partner do you spend your time with, or do you spend the day solo?
I imagine that having partners with kids complicates things. I don't have any kids, nor does A. E didn't have kids, either. N has two grown boys who are out of the house, so that means I don't have that extra step of planning to work through.
For me, it's been a little mix.
I am out to my family. They have met N and E, althought they have not yet met A.
There have been years when I have gone to see my family by myself, and there have been years where I have spent the holiday with one of my partners.
This year, I am taking N to see my family (A wouldn't do well on the five-plus hour round trip to and from my mom's place) on Christmas Eve, which is when my family always celebrates. Christmas Day will be spent at my own place, hosting and Island of Misfit Toys gathering for those who can't get to or don't want to be around their families.
