I'm pretty much going to copy and paste what I wrote on the music forum about it.
"Mother Monster has returned!
Well, it was my first time seeing her, but let me start from the start (I'm still on a bit of a high from it tbh, and I'm writing this from work, as I can't wait until I get home to write about it) 😁
Having said that, the start of the night was an absolute shit-show! Not Gaga herself, but the LINES to get in! I've been to Suncorp stadium a few times over the years (notably only once before for another concert, which was Justin Bieber) but I've never seen it that bad before. We were like sardines and the lines just weren't moving, even 15 minutes before the show was meant to start! 😱
The line gradually started moving, but the show had started. I could hear the music start up, and I was inside the stadium, but I hadn't yet found my section where my seat was! I was more trying to avoid being stampeded as people freaked out about missing the start! It took me a while to find my seat, as it was a bit confusing. I had booked a "restricted view' seat, which can be a risk, but I figured it's a stadium so it can't be that bad.
My seat was in the front row. So think like if it was a football (rugby) game (which is what Suncorp is usually used for), I would be level with the players. I was probably about 100 meters from Gaga. I was just glad no-one was sitting in my seat, as it was sold out. I was very lucky to have bought my discounted tickets the day prior.
I could see Gaga, and the only real restriction from view were the people in the front GA section on the field and a few of the HUNDREDS of security Gaga had at the show. No wonder ticket prices were insane, to pay all of them alone!
Anyway, the show was a complete show! Like, theatrical. Even the expressions on Gaga's face told me she's clearly a great actress as well as a singer. Everything from the costumes to the choreo to the lights and even special effects via the screen to make everyone look like zombies (even people in the crowd) was pretty cool!
I think she did all of the songs from "Mayhem", as well as all of her bigger hits. There was a moment when she had just started to sing "Die With A Smile" on her piano, when she had a sneezing fit. She asked the band to stop, which they did, and she ducked her head under the piano to continue sneezing for a good little while. I was getting concerned! But, she recovered, said a sheepish, "Hi" to the crowd, and we all laughed.
That's the thing about her. She's SO human. Like, you wouldn't think she's one of the biggest stars on the planet. Even I wasn't going to go see her, but when they released doable ticket-prices, I thought, "I just have to go see her. I can't go through this life without seeing Gaga." She's as big as Michael Jackson, at least in my eyes.
She apologized for her sneezes and said, "At least you know it's me singing."
Ha!
And what a hell of a voice that woman has. My God. I was mesmerised at certain points throughout the night. I was in tears during her toned-down rendition of "Edge Of Glory", when she told the crowd that it was about having lost a loved one. It couldn't have been more fitting, sitting in a stadium while stars sparkled above, with her singing that stunning rendition, while I looked up at the stars and thought of my father, whom passed around this time last year.
My favourite songs she did were that one, The Dead Dance, Just Dance, Die With A Smile, her dedication to the entire queer community - "Every ounce of this show was made for YOU!" she shouted - before belting out "Born This Way", and her final song of the night was naturally her biggest hit here, "Bad Romance."
I also have a newfound appreciation for some of the songs from "Mayhem", like "Vanish Into You" (she walked into the crowd for this one and signed a few autographs), "Shadow Of A Man" and especially "How Bad Do U Want Me"!
She yelled, "Put your motherf*cking paws up!" about as many times as she did in her Melbourne shows, which was 94.
Wow, wow, wow. Just wow.
I've found out since watching the news this morning that they were having technical difficulties during the sound-check, so the doors didn't get opened until an hour later than they were meant to! I believe the stadium has a curfew (especially on a Tuesday night) so I'm guessing it wouldn't have been able to be delayed. So I didn't get to see her walk out on stage, but I still had an amazing time otherwise"
So yeah, the lines were as insane as they were when I tried to see Cher that time at Mardi Gras, although that time, I didn't even get into the venue and had to watch her on a screen from a different venue in the same complex. At least I got to see Gaga. I did get to see Cher when she came back a year or two later on her tour, so I can't complain too much.
But yeah, the Gaga ticket was very last minute. Like, I only bought one because they were selling official tickets for $260. I know that's expensive as fuck, but they WERE over $600 when I last checked. Maybe great marketing, I dunno, but I'd never seen her before and she's been around for 20 years now, so I just had to, and I'm so glad I did. I'm happy that no-one had taken my seat by the time I got in there, which was by the end of the first song. I always worry about that, you know, because people can be assholes. I just had to move a recycle bin that was in my way of my legs. I left after the last song, even though she hadn't completed her encore, but I could hear it on the way out. It was cool that they open the doors right up at the end and I could just look behind me and see her, wheras at the start, security was vigorously checking people's tickets, as I guess they didn't want people who hadn't forked over $1000+ in those sections. Stuff that. Even $260 is the most I've ever paid for a concert. But hey, I still consider it my birthday week.
In other news, Australia has brought in the new social media laws. It started on December 10. Kids under 16 can't use social media anymore. Of course, many still are, because kids are smart. And they've been trolling our prime minister with comments like, "Still here, bro." LOL. I mean, I get it - he wants kids to get outdoors and be kids, but I really don't think he should be playing God. I think it should be up to the parents.
In other news, to go to the USA now, I'll have to hand over 5 years of social media at the border LOL. I've never seen a more wankerish, up-himself president until today's day and age. If any foreigner says something that butthurts the POTUS, they ain't getting in! Hilarious! Oh well, defs won't get in now after writing that! Mind you, I've had absolutely zero desire to ever visit the USA, you know, at least until the orange turd gets flushed anyway. I just think the whole thing is hilarious. A guy on TV here was telling everyone to just bring a burner phone if they are planning a trip to the USA. Makes sense. The media is saying we also have to provide our DNA as well now LOL. Too many pollies with God complex's these days. We have another pollie here under fire for spending an obscene amount of money for using taxpayer money to fly her family members in on business class just to see her! Insane the perks that pollies get here that they can just abuse it like this, and we're in a fucking major cost of living crisis. I hope she gets the book thrown at her, personally.
I had my friend Brande' over last night to watch the final episode of Neighbours. It's a soap opera here that's been running since 1987, and this is the second time it has ended. I don't think it's getting saved this time though, but it did end on a cliffhanger, so who knows. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with myself on weeknights anymore, as it was a show I always watched. Maybe I should have a social media ban placed on me too.
