I have nothing else to add, except this: If you want to be nice to Nazis, that’s your folly. But I am a queer, neurodivergent, half-Jewish woman. I am not stupid enough to think I have even the merest hint of the privilege of being nice to so-called “human beings” who literally want me dead, just because I have the audacity (in their minds) to exist. There were plenty of queer, disabled Jews who tried fawning and people-pleasing with Nazis in Germany in the 1930s and 40s, and you know what happened to them? The Nazis murdered them, just like they murdered every queer, disabled Jew who didn’t comply.
Not only that, it’s just not in my nature to fawn and appease and people-please; it’s in my nature to fight and be noncompliant with people who want me dead. It may not save my life, but I will at least have died fighting for my country, democracy, and decency to the last, which suits me just fine.
