Oof. Sitting here for quite some time (I started this entry this morning, and it’s already the end of the day), trying to work on my next moves.
I got this really great email this morning from Rob Brezsney Astrology, and the timing was impeccable. It was about becoming findable rather than relentless pursuit.
The essence of the article is this:
The practice of Becoming Findable is a shift from aggressively chasing goals and opportunities, a narrative common in “hustle culture”, to focusing on self-preparation and authenticity, like being a flower that opens up to attract a pollinator instead of being the busy bee pursuing it. This strategy involves cultivating your genuine self and skills (the flower opening), getting clear about the signal you are truly broadcasting, and physically positioning yourself in the ecosystem where what you seek (like job opportunities or love) is likely to be. Rather than trying to force an outcome, the work is to remove internal obstacles like perfectionism and fear, and to prepare yourself to recognize good fortune even in unexpected forms. Then trust the timing that is beyond your control, ultimately making you an “entity” that desired outcomes will naturally want to find.
Essentially Showing Up and Showing Out, as in showing who I am, what I stand for, and where I want to be - and then letting the opportunities find me.
Now obviously, I still want to TRY and to go for things, but I’m also working on creating opportunities for myself rather than trying too hard or seeming desperate.
Today, I was able to schedule two initial interviews for tomorrow and moved forward towards that 6-month consulting gig.
Tonight, I’ll take my walk with Martini over in the shopping district and maybe inquire about a seasonal position at the retailer I’d like to end up working with somehow (in product development). It’s that time of year, babies! Take your places and show ‘em!
xox,
