We got a luxury for my husband. It was a satellite TV setup. We paid a lot and continued to pay since nothing was free and we were too dumb to cheat.
Part of what was good was the CBC. Canadian Broadcasting. They had a superior version of MTV called Much Music. My kids loved it and so did I.
I should explain more. But instead, I’ll just leave you this:
I love the magnified menace of the wristwatches on the rear view mirror.
Now I suppose they would be Iphones.
And here’s a bonus.

These are just music videos, old ones, from the 1980s probably, maybe 1990s. From a band called the Tragically Hip. Great name.
*
The Tragically Hip got their name from a skit in Michael Nesmith’s 1981 comedy film, Elephant Parts, in which a character says, “Send some money to the foundation for the tragically hip”. The band members liked the phrase, which also appeared as a lyric in an Elvis Costello song from the same era, and adopted it for their own. *
Oh and on Sunday mornings CBC would show a week’s worth of Coronation Street. I would sit in the big blue chair and invent bingeing.
