Good morning! Lots to do today, so per usual, I’m going to procrastinate a bit by writing an entry instead of busting right into my morning workout. It’s a little cooler outside this morning, so a good walk with Martini will be another great way to eat a chunk of precious time this morning before I get super productive!
Best Bud and her sister are coming to visit today/tonight! I’m excited to see them, though our plans are super rough. They are actually coming to town to see BB’s son perform in his university’s jazz band tomorrow at some point (I don’t even know what time because I wasn’t invited to attend that part of their visit, haahah!), but we have tonight and tomorrow morning to hang.
Another lonely week at work. Another week of dumbassery with the Head Cat and his new sidekick (I can’t remember the name I made up for her! Might have been No-Show COO because that’s what I call her to Kitty Cat, the outgoing CEO. Hahaha!). Yesterday, we had a “team meeting”. It’s funny to use that term because there are now literally only TWO people who are employed full-time at Cool Cat Company. The rest are contract freelancers (sidekick COO and her assistant and a couple of other agencies). In the meeting, No-Show COO told my counterpart and me that we are “safe” - we have job security here at Cool Cat Company. Jesus. How stupid do you think we are?? She just doesn’t want either one of us to leave before they set up freelance replacements. The company would fall apart if my counterpart left. They’d just have to put a pause on the stuff that I do until they can replace me.
I’ve been working on my job search and interview preparation. I’m in the process of updating my online portfolio, and I have half of a website put together, thanks to hosting services that are now using AI to make suggestions. Ha. I have a lot of work to do to tweak it more and make it super easy to navigate, but at least it’s out there under my own domain name.
Oh shit. Just took the dog walk and while we were walking, I checked my text messages with Best Bud. Appears the concert is tonight, so they are coming in this afternoon! I better bust a move and get myself and everything READY! Ugh. Why did I procrastinate and not realize the show is TONIGHT?! I normally pay much more attention.
