I was supposed to have the phone interview with the Orthopaedic surgeon yesterday. I had received a text message saying that I would be receiving a phone-call at 9:15am from a private number. So I'd planned to take a break at work around that time, and put the volume up on my phone (mine is always on silent, as a phone ringing in public sets my anxiety off - I know, I'm a mess lol). I'd set an alarm to go off so I knew when to take a break. I got outside and saw there was a missed call from a privage number around 8:30am. Ergh. They had left a voicemail though, which was surprising, so I listened to it, and it was their Reception letting me know that the phone call would be within the next hour. I thought, "Well that was nice of them," and awaited the extra 15 minutes. Nothing. I had to go back to work, as of course I had a hell of a lot of work to get done, as I don't have help anymore on a Thursday, so it seems. I got all the way to my lunchbreak at 11:30am, and there was still nothing. Finished lunch and went back to work, thinking I'd hear the phone ring and I'd just have to take the call. I didn't see there was another missed call from the private number until around 3pm. The call had been at 12:30pm, but there was another voicemail left. It wasn't the surgeon, again. It was his reception, letting me know they'd email my GP, and that they understood I wasn't going to go ahead with the surgery, but if I wanted to book in again, to rebook with him and go ahead with physio in the meantime.
Lolz. So I'm not even worth a call from the damn surgeon himself. And I doubt rebooking with the public system will happen, as that will be another 18-month+ wait. So that was a non-event and a waste of time, it seems.
In other news, hadn't heard of Charlie Kirk until yesterday. He was 10 years younger than me. One of Trumps goonies? Loved his guns, ironically. I'm assuming that's why there were no metal detectors at the entrance to his event. But it was someone on a rooftop again anyway, so maybe outside the event? In my circles, a lot of people are saying he hated the gays, and the world with one less homophobe doesn't make me feel as bad as I normally would. Sucks for his family, either way.
