Byron Bay in Adventures in paradise

I'm back at work after my time off for the surgury that didn't end up happening.  I had a lovely three days away in Byron.  The weather was only really bad on the day I checked out.  I should have made my bus back earlier, but oh well, live and learn.  I spent most of the time laying on the beach like a seal sunning itself.  It was bliss.  It's pretty much all I did, every day.  My skin isn't as pasty white as it was.  I read my books on the beach, except for Wednesday when I was so mesmerised by seeing the splashes of whales in the far distance.  I hadn't realised one had entered the bay until I saw a few others facing their phones over the Pacific and I saw some splashes and got excited.  So that was the closest whale to the shore by far, but I only really saw a few of it's splashes.  I then realized that if I kept my eyes on the horizon for long enough, I would see big splashes of water every so often as they breached the surface.  I really need to go on an actual whale-watching trip one day to get up and close with them.  I've also told myself that I need to bring a pair of binoculars next time I'm there.  I could have bought a pair at one of the shops there, but I didn't really want to drop $250 on something I'm probably only gonna use a few times.  I figure I can find something cheaper.  I was happy seeing the splashes anyway.  On the Friday, I walked up to the most eastern point in Australia so that I could get a better vantage point of the whales.  And I saw quite a few of them - again, far in the distance, but there were quite a few of them.  I also saw about eight dolphins in the bay on the walk there and back, so it was a very worthwhile trip for my mental health :)  I'm glad I decided to go further to Byron rather than the Gold Coast like I usually do.  It was a hell of a lot more peaceful, without a highrise in sight.  Some hippie even stopped me on the street to give me words of affirmation.  He even had a binder full of sheets of paper and he gave me like six of them lol.

I'll leave it at that with a bunch of selfies I took.
