It occurs to me in Well now

Listening to the news, I am disheartened but not surprised
to learn of a new tactic being used by the current regime
in its ongoing assault on im’migrants, the so’cial se’curity system, the legal system,
and the basic principles of human decency.
They are now attacking im’migrants by purposely adding them to the “dead file”
in the so’cial se’curity system,
This lovely little tactic is incredibly nefarious.
If you are declared dead, all sorts of things happen.
You can lose your health insurance, your home, your bank account, and so much more.
They’ve done it to at least six thousand im’migrants that they claim
all have links to terrorist activity or criminal records.
This seems a bit of a stretch when inspection of the list
of these newly “dead” supposed terrorists
includes a number of people 16 and under
as well as a number of septuagenarians and octogenarians.
Common sense allows that these are not the usual ages of terrorists.
Made up shit that’s used to wreak havoc on people’s lives
regardless of reality or truth espcially if it can be weaponized
to its cruelest potential,
that seems to be far more likely the case here.
And, by the by, if its use proves successful and is executed with impunity,
the weapon used on today’s targets, immigrants,
can easily be turned on anyone the regime wishes to make “dead” -
for whatever reason, no matter their status.
I’m talking full on citizens.
I’m talking me.
I’m talking you.
This coup is getting bloody
and it’s not going to stop.
Pivot.
It occurs to me that there are more plots afoot to destroy the system.
A simple massive act informational arson could wipe out decades of data,
entire lives of contributions could disappear.
Until almost exactly now,
I would have thought such things impossible.
Now I realize, if I can think of it,
and I am not of evil intent,
they are more than capable of carrying a quite specific and effective plan
to do it.
I might have, in more innocent times, thought this paranoia.
Deep sigh.
I hold out an irrational hope
that somehow, some way inconceivable to the workings of this tiny mind,
the so’cial se’curity system,
upon which I have always calmly assumed I would be able
to depend in my rapidly encroaching old age,
it might be saved from the ravagers.
But who knows what scorched earth might be perpetrated
on something as fragile as a database
even if the current regime is eventually ousted?
They are exceedingly poor winners.
Can you imagine what they could destroy before they go
if they find themselves losing power?
Hence I went to the so’cial se’curity site this evening
and printed out a quite a bit of information listed there about me,
my history in that system and such,
so that I have a snapshot
now
before something (even more) unfortunate
(than what’s presently occurring) happens.
