Doctor said I have been sick with a fever 6 times since May. Which is a lot even when working with kids. Because I have Japanese health insurance, they tested me for everything they could think of.
Covid, negative
Flu, negative
Pneumonia, negative
Next up is whooping cough. I was instructed to only leave my house with a mask on now, which, is what I have been doing for the last week.
To find out why I’ve been getting sick so frequently they are testing my blood to see my red and white cell count. My grandfather had leukemia and my father had problems maintaining his white blood cell count. To be fair, my father had his spleen removed at 17 so that was likely his issue.
After the blood cell count, if my white is low, they’ll likely ask me to change my diet and maybe recommend further testing to rule out leukemia.
I don’t think that leukemia is a naturally hereditary illness. When I researched, it can be hereditary if you have a specific gene mutation? Also, there have been studies that show leukemia has a higher chance of developing for Ashkenazi Jews. I am only 16.5% Ashkenazi Jew but who is to say I didn’t miraculously inherit a gene mutation from my exiled Jewish grandfather.
This is all to say I don’t have much worry about my health. I think I have pretty good luck when it comes to stuff like this in life, and if I’m wrong, my only option is to take the bull by the horns.
I think that the more believable outcome is that I get sick often because I work with kids and I have no or low immunity to anything that passes through the school.
My job had me work Friday and Saturday which were the worst days of the illness. Constant coughing, blowing my nose, throwing up, and I think I even had a fever.
Took the day off today to get tested for various things and get more medicine. This doctor put me on a high dose of coughing medicine so my coughing has really gone down to almost nothing thankfully.
Just another day in the percolator.
