They give you crucial steps before moving in, call the:
1. Electricity Company
2. Water Company
3. Gas Company

I was able to get all three done, well, I thought.

Despite waking up at 7am on a Saturday, traveling by train for an hour, and waiting another for the gas guy to show up. I turn on the shower for the first time on Monday to find myself without hot water.

When I visited the Philippines, the family I stayed with had a similar situation. I knew what I could do, or needed to do.

Problem is the water coming out of the pipes is freezing cold. It’s 43°F here in South Kanagawa, not the coldest part of Japan but it’s getting colder.

I have to boil water in my kettle and mix the hot water with the cold water. To conserve my hot water, I wash my hair in the freezing water.

Surprisingly, I’m not that upset about this situation. I guess I’m just happy to be living in a new place and have water at all.

I wonder if I have conditioned my body and mind to just handle what life gives me. If I get fucked in the ass by anything I always find a way to just accept the outcome and adjust my life. I know there are many people who would be downright miserable or even angry they’re in this no-hot-water predicament. But, it’s just a week, or two, and I will live to see another hot shower.

Life could be a lot worse.
