Name: Klaus

Introduction Platform: Bumble

Age:49

Relationship Status: Single. Never Married. No kids. No pets.

Job: German Literature (he’s German) and Digital Forensics (?) Professor

Lives: In a garage apartment (super cute) in a beautiful neighborhood close to downtown

Length of Date: 3 hours

We Did: Dinner at an adorable French fusion restaurant

He Looked: Very European - black shirt, dark pants, dark hair, dark eyes

I Looked: Bright fringe top, brightly patterned maxi skirt, bright smile (ha), sandals

Convo: Lots and lots and LOTS of convo about coming to this city - he, from Belgium where he was teaching and me from my old city. He moved here during the pandemic. We talked about lots of places we’ve both traveled. He told me he talks to animals. I’m not super sure about that kind of stuff, but…the rest of the convo was decent. I asked him a lot of questions about places in Germany for some reason. I mean, yes, he’s from a small town in Northern Germany, but I just seemed to have a lot to say about Germany.

High Point: Some good belly laughs. Those are absolutely the best.

Low Point: I’ll tell you in the Chances Are section

How It Ended: We had a delicious dinner (both had grilled salmon), I had non-alcoholic bubbly and he had a mocktail of some sort (he doesn’t drink!), and he even ordered creme brulee for dessert. We talked and talked non-stop, and I could tell he wanted to linger, but the waiter brought the check pretty quickly before he could order coffee. It was getting late-ish (for me), but we both wanted to stay a little longer….until I got a message from C. + I. who were babysitting Martini and they wanted to drop her off. That meant I needed to go pretty quickly. I asked if they could drop her off at 10 and they agreed. I ended up driving Klaus home because he doesn’t own a car. No biggie, but little things started adding up: no car, garage apartment, and then the kicker was…he asked me if I could text with him on some app called Signal. Do y’all know this thing? It’s kinda like WhatsApp or WeChat, but ughhhh…who wants ANOTHER messaging app?? I don’t know, you guys. Is he a spy? Is he reading this RAD right now??

Chances Are: I like him. I do. I think he’s super interesting. But why the dumb messaging app? I can keep messaging on Bumble if that’s the case. I’m not looking for a reason to not go out with him again because I do think he’s funny and super nice and easy to talk with. But the last thing is a weird vibe.
