I’ve spent a good portion of the day putting things together for my week away. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve spent a WEEK anywhere - before Covid for sure!
[Side note: WTF – is Covid back? My boss had it last week and then Head Cat has it this week. I mean, I know it will likely never go away, but all of a sudden I’m hearing about a lot of people getting it again…ughhhh]
Anyway. Packing.
I’ve been sort of looking around here and there for things to wear when I go see [Athena] for the week, starting tomorrow. We’re going to be doing some fun dining experiences and going to gallery exhibits and shows and things. I need cute outfits! Finally, after staying out later than necessary looking through Anthropologie, H&M, Nordstrom, Zara, etc. etc. last night I realized that I’m just going to have to make my own closet work.
So today I spent a very big portion of the day trying to put outfits together.
I know you’re wondering why I don’t have outfits already put together out of my own closet? It’s because I never GO OUT anymore. I mean, sure, I’m working on getting more dates, but you see how that’s going. And I work from home and don’t have to put things together anymore like I used to when I was going into an office daily. And doing brunch clubs and fun stuff like that.
Plus, after losing 23.5 pounds, my clothes fit differently so I have to put things together differently.
[Another side note: HOW did I fit some of these things onto my body when I was 23.5 pounds heavier…HOW?! I mean, I know I had some major muffin top and camel toe, but I’m just blown away by the way my stuff fits so much more comfortably again]
Again. Packing.
I have almost everything put together now.
I’ve also put together a HEALTHY smorgasbord of road trip food so that I only have to stop for gas, pee breaks and body stretching, a good walk, anything FUN I see along the way, and whatever else I want to do…but I will NOT be stopping for food at all! NO crappy fast food! I know it’s only a day-long drive, but I’ve prepared enough healthy treats (hard-boiled eggs, crudite, peanut butter, sliced apples and pears, wasabi peas, crackers, sparkling water) to fill up my whole cooler and get me through the entire drive - plus food/snacks for the dog.
The last thing I need to do tonight…right now…is take a good “everything” shower that includes the hair wash ritual, exfoliation, shave, etc. etc. …all the good stuff so that I will be super comfy on the drive. And then pack all of the beauty/hair, meds, etc.
So I better get moving.
This is a whole event!
