Name: Chip

Introduction Platform: Bumble

Age: 52

Relationship Status: Divorced 5 years; breakup from most recent significant other 1 year ago; 3 kids - two grown and out of house, one 13-year-old

Job: Computer chip engineer (hence the name…heh)

Lives: Fancy-ish neighborhood in the hills close to his downtown office

Length of Date: 1.5 hours

We Did: Met for coffee (I ordered a chai tea latte and he got the same) in a hidden-away downtown coffee shop

He Looked: EXACTLY my type! Tall, dark and oh so handsome! He was dressed for work in nice, army green khakis, a printed collared shirt and super cool Vans. Black framed glasses, a thick, thick head of dark wavy hair and a salt-and-pepper shadow of a beard. Chefs kiss

I Looked: It’s hot here and I wasn’t sure what to wear due to the temperature and whether we were going to be sitting indoors or out? I opted for a strapless tiered dress in olive green (complimentary to his outfit!) with a beaded belt, minimal-ish jewelry, sandals with a slight wedge heel

Convo: Just so freaking good. It was all introductory stuff and what do you like to do and the outdoors (he’s an avid bicyclist and I’m an avid walker) and places we’ve lived (he’s originally from Mexico City and we both LOVE Paris!) and summer plans and technology and a little about our views on relationships and the tiniest bit about exes and his kids and my dog. I made sure not to mention that I am a “cancer survivor” and I have had so much trauma in the past several years (and honestly, haven’t we ALL had so much trauma??). I think from now on those are topics that should come further down the road and don’t necessarily need to be thrown out there as soon as I meet someone.

High Point: I knew I was going to like him. I KNEW IT. Honestly, just by his photos and the text messages between us. I could feel the good vibes. I kept saying to myself over and over in the mirror this morning, “He’s going to want to date you…he’s going to want to date you…he’s going to want to date you!” And I wasn’t knocked over by electricity either. I know that when that happens with me, as good as it makes me feel, it’s a red flag!! At the end of our conversation he said, “I’d like to talk to you again. May I have your number?” SO FREAKING LOVELY AND POLITE!! GREEN FLAG! GREEN FLAG BABY!!

Low Point: There was NO low point

How It Ended: Oh my gosh, I can’t remember exactly what it was, but there was something that I said that was like the perfect closer. Like it put a really nice bow on our conversation and we both knew that we’d been talking well beyond an hour (my lunch break), and we both took a breath and were like, okay!! And we got up, hugged goodbye and walked out of the coffee shop. I walked one way and he walked the other way. Boom.

Chances Are: Okay, dating gods, let this one happen. Let THIS ONE HAPPEN, please!
