Ten Things. in These Foolish Things

  1. While I’m weary of talking about my love life, I do have a date tonight and I may…MAY be doing a Rate-A-Date at some point in the near future. I’m a bit leery of this dude. We’ve only texted, but his texts are somewhat over-the-top. For example, he’d sent me a text last night that I didn’t answer, so this morning I wrote, “I look forward to meeting you!” and his reply was:
I would never admit how excited I am! Something about your smile, your eyes, your enthusiasm…bottom line is it’s FINALLY Thursday! How is work going this morning gorgeous?
I didn’t answer, and then there was more… a few more texts and then this one:
Have been checking out your pics, hope they don’t start charging me per viewing
While it’s really nice to be pursued, he’s been giving me the “how are you, beautiful” stuff and the “I am DYING to see you” stuff for a week now and he’s never even met me. I am cautious.
On a positive note, he looks extremely handsome in his ONE Tinder photo. We shall see.

  2. I woke up late and had to pick up one of my assistants on the way into work this morning, so I’m not very polished today. In fact, I’m wearing jeans and my hair looks kinda so-so (I wash my hair 2X/week MAX, sometimes once, and I’m going on day 5 now…). What do you think that says about my enthusiasm for point #1? Still, my killer shoes go a long way!

  3. My new boss is not only handsome, so far he’s very laid back and fun. I’m looking forward to traveling with him in China. This is going to be interesting! I hope that the laid back and fun part continue.

  4. Best Bud comes to town on Friday. She just got FIRED from her job a couple of weeks ago (the day before her birthday!). Long, sucky story. I have not been the best friend in the world lately, mostly because of the fact that we live far away and our travel schedules, etc.. so I’m hoping I can make up for some of that. She’s trying to fly to Hawaii non-rev with our flight attendant friend on Saturday, but she doesn’t know if she’s going to get on, so if she doesn’t, it will be nice to catch up with her properly over the weekend. If she does, well, at least I’ll get to hang with her on Friday.

  5. I’m not in love with my new therapist. She lets me talk and talk (our last session was 2 hours again!), but she doesn’t give me great advice. At least I don’t really feel that way. I do feel like someone is listening, but PBers seem to be much better at giving advice. It’s also great that she does after-hours, and that’s worth something. In my recollection, pretty much every single time I’ve been to therapy I haven’t gotten a lot out of it. Anybody out there who feels that a therapist has helped them change the course of their life? I just don’t seem to get it. Don’t get me wrong, it feels GREAT to talk to a non-biased person. I feel like a load has been lifted every time. But I’m waiting for her to give me some insight into myself. All she is telling me is that I deserve better than what I have…and that It’s Not Me. I don’t need to change. I just need to be careful out there. Is that it?

  6. I have temporarily given up on the dog search. I was running into stumbling blocks with the available adoptee pups, and I’m just frustrated with the system. And now I’m leaving on a long trip and just feel like I need to wait a little bit…

  7. I am going on a quickie getaway next weekend. I can’t write the details yet, but I’m ready to take a 3-day weekend. It’s a pre-birthday celebration since I will be out of the country on my actual B-day.

  8. I need new clothes and accessories. I’m bored with my overflowing closet. What that really means is that I need to clean my closet. I can only imagine what I’ll find in there. Perhaps a whole new wardrobe?

  9. How does one curb a salt craving? I can’t seem to get enough of the chip/nut/crunchy-salty stuff. I was doing really well for a few months, and now I’m stopping at the vending machine

  10. Duty calls. Fires and stuff at work…wish me luck for tonight!
