We had a reasonable disembarkation time of 8:15am, so I woke up at 7, which is not earlier than during the cruise, to get ready. The flight was at 2:20pm, so we anticipated spending 4 hours at the airport, and were grumpy about that. However it turned out to be a good thing: our bus ride to the airport was smooth, and when we had trouble checking in using the machine, there was no line for the ticketing agent, because it was early enough. The security line was also practically empty. That makes for a smooth check-in experience. And since no one was at the terminal yet, we had a peaceful time (initially) at the gate area. I had time to do some work for the amateur musician non-profit even, and downloaded Match of The Day to watch on the plane.

We spent an hour and a half at Margaritaville for lunch, and by the time we were done, the terminal had become hectic - flights had arrived, and more people were getting ready to board the plane. It was hard to even find seats next to each other. We boarded ½ hours after scheduled time, but made up for it on the flight to New York.

Our car service was a professional - he told us to go to the departure level to get picked up because the arrival would be busy - so the pick up was seamless. He did have to wait for us to make our way from the furthest reaches of Terminal 4 back to the baggage claim - I think we walked for almost 20 minutes just inside the Terminal. Even the ride back home was smooth, which was very surprising for a Thanksgiving Sunday.

All in all it was an enjoyable vacation. I especially liked how informative the guides were - I’d expected sun and beaches, but also learned a little about the Caribbean history and culture, so that was nice.
