I was still having some stomach issues in the morning, so had a light breakfast. But we slept very well. La Professeure secured a walking tour of Old San Juan for us in the afternoon, so we had the whole morning to get settled in the ship. We explored the ship and located the venue for afternoon tea, the pools, and the observation lounge. We would eventually spend a lot of time there during our cruise. I spent time before lunch at the atrium, writing the previous entry. Since we’d explored the ship I was able to direct some confused-looking people to the restaurant and to guest services. Eventually some asked me whether I worked for the cruise line. Before lunch, we went to a Walgreens at the port to get some stuff she forgot to pack, and immediately noticed how many cruise ships were docked there. I was worrying how crowded it’s going to be in the afternoon.

It turned out the port was crowded, but the tour itself was not particularly affected. Most of the time we stayed on the bus while the driver drove us around and pointed out the sights. We stopped at San Cristobal fortress for 40 minutes or so to take pictures and explore the museum there. We went to the lower levels, which none of us had ever seen, even though we had all visited San Cristaobal before. It was a bit disappointing that the tour only involved one stop, but at least we were in air condition most of the time. It was humid and hot out. We got back in time for afternoon tea, which was a nice experience. La Professeure’s mom slept through the whole thing though.

We then headed to the top deck for the sail-away. It was quiet; I guess it’s either because the ship was mostly suites, so everybody got their own balcony, or it’s just a small ship that not many people come to watch the sailaway. We saw a Disney line and an MSC line cruise ship leaving about the same time, and their top deck was way more crowded than ours.

From there, we met with La Professeure’s parents - who went to a different end of the ship for the sailaway - and got dinner, where we went to the Buffet and the captain sat next table to us.
