Dating: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Thursday, May 27, 2004
After many agonizing dates with all sorts of people I had just about given up. I have dated all sorts of men too. I have dated middle eastern men, African men, Asian men, white, brown.. you name it.... I have gone out with them. The man previous to Derek was a man I met from the internet that had an incredible, and I do mean incredible, limp. He wouldn't have been so bad but the whole hour drive with him he didn't say one word to me and he was deaf in one ear so the words I said to him he couldn't hear. He was a nice guy, I think, I am not sure because we didn't get to say that much to each other to find out if in fact he was a nice man. All I really remember from his date was hoping we'd get pulled over so that I could ask the police officer for a ride back home. So after that horrible date I had to take a little time off. I have talked to dozens of men online and met just a select few. I met a guy named ummm .... er... well I don't remember, and he seemed nice. However, he was nice in the "he will fuck just about any woman" nice. So he didn't work out either. That was truly unfortunate. I mean, where else could I get every STD known to mankind by sleeping with just one guy? I had an Asian violinist ask me out for coffee the other day. I had to turn him down though. I am sure he would have been a great catch, that is if he wasn't 12 years older than me. Then there's always the guys that are 8 years younger than me that ask me out. They would be a lot of fun. They could hand me money and I could go and buy our drinks. That's always fun on a date. I could just see the drive home getting pulled over. I go to jail for DWI. He goes to jail for MIP. I don't know why I tend to do the internet dating thing. I do have a few rules before dating someone from online though. One rule I follow is to never date a man that TYPES IN ALL CAPS. It gives me the feeling that he is to lazy to use the shift key. Besides that, it makes me feel as though he is yelling at me. Another rule I go by is to never date a man that doesn't speak in complete sentances. I dont' mind a fragment sentance here and there, but if the whole conversation is fragmented, then I feel the date will pretty much go the same way. And lastly, I never date a man that has a screen name with the numbers "69" or "420" or "48867". So I finally met a man that has an acceptable screen name, doesn't TYPE IN ALL CAPS, and is aproximently the same age as me. He real name is Derek.
I went out on my date with Derek. I do believe it went pretty well. We met for the first time at the mall. We walked around and talked. Then we went to a bar and shot pool. He kicked my ass twice and the third time he let me win. He paid for everything, which doesn't sound like much, but with my previous experience it meant the world to me. We laughed and joked around then he had to go back home. He lives about an hour and a half away. However, he is moving to Lansing in about 2 weeks. I can't tell you how much fun I had. It doesn't sound like much, but I haven't told you the best part yet.
Derek is a very nice looking guy. He's got a good job. He is so funny. He reminds me of Marc. (my second serious relationship) He can keep up with my sarcasm, and ever since I met him (online 4 days ago) I haven't stopped smiling. I have that feeling of happiness again. That wonderful feeling of I wanna do back flips and cart-wheels and maybe even a jumpin' jack. The whole time I was with him, this evening, we didn't stop laughing and joking around. The date was perfect. However, the date did have to end. However, just before he got into his car he gave me something. Something I have been waiting years for. Something no man has given me in so long. Something that I will keep forever. Come on, I know you all know what is was... It was...
a kiss!
Goodnight
