My notebook in These titles mean nothing.

I live to a great degree in my spiral bound notebook - the cheap kind that come with 70 narrow lined pages and a bright colored cardboard front and a plain cardboard back. The current one is yellow and it’s labeled with the year - 2023, my name and both ha ha ha phone numbers. On the outside of the back cover are names and addressed and a few phone numbers. Inside the book is a form of my life. I used to be good/better at it. I would staple and cut and glue things in the book. I considered it a form/loosely speaking of art. I have a couple book shelves of them in my bedroom. They are what needs to be burned when I die.
Either that or donated to the county museum. Or perhaps more likely something in between.

It contains somewhat of a record of the recent trip. I plan to transfer/transcribe it here. Let’s see what happens.

Another thing - another part of my life is my post midnight youtube adventures. Believe it or not there are journaling specialists on youtube. The two I’ve encountered are men. They attribute a lot of self improvement to wrigtng in a notebook. Both are cutely masculine in that they specify and recommend a type of notebook, a type of pen, and a pattern for writing.

My current guy is Chip Franks. He’s into GRATITUDE. I can take or leave GRATITUDE. I admit that I have as much to be grateful for as the average person. I am amenable to listing/ rolling around in /etc. in my fortunate circumstances. Well maybe I am. What I really try not to do is to indulge in regret. Either do it or don’t do it. Then forget about it. Is that life? Maybe. Maybe not. I think I may have forgotten the source of Maybe. Maybe not. Ah I remember.

It was another guy on the internet. He was fairly available but he wasn’t anyone who appealed to be a lot. I can tell you he had named himself after his Harley Davidson. He lived on the east side of San Francisco Bay,, and early on he told me he was happy to talk to me but he wanted to stay married. I told him good. I admired him for that - that was what I always said to guys like him, or even guys not like him. I said it suited me perfectly too. I said it was a good thing. That’s when he said to quote in actual quotation marks - “Maybe. Maybe not.”
Wow, isn’t that great? I thought it was. I still do.

I just went back in youtube’s history = great thing by the way = and found the journalling clip I watched on June 28 when I obviously had a lot of time on my hands.

What I took from it and changed a bit too because after all I’m a journalling expect too. is this:

I. Gratitudes

  1. Goals

  2. Gab

Embellished with the three W’s

  1. Write
  2. Walk
  3. Wash

And further enhanced with one line drawings. (threes, flowers, cats, and fire, so far)

Meanwhile:
Share a day with the Keenan ladies.

Edited

In preparation for getting new flooring I have to move all of my books. (Actually I have to move everything but the books seemed daunting so I started with them. ) This morning I was dusting off a batch of old journals. I use composition books and a pencil. I learned how to write on the bus so that is when I mostly did it, before 750 Words. Now I just make notes.

Hello to the ladies there in their summer glory.

I'm so glad you like the trees. They are grateful too.

I use spiral bound notebooks at work -- they are a great reference, over time. I hadn't thought about keeping one at home but now I might start. I do have a small journal that I write in sometimes but that's not the same thing as a notebook where I. keep random notes and information.

Jinn July 10, 2023

I I haven’t decided what to do about my old journals yet. Not sure I really want my sons reading them :-)

woman in the moon Jinn ⋅ July 10, 2023

I doubt anyone would have the patience to read mine.

Jinn woman in the moon ⋅ July 11, 2023

I think if I found my Mother’s journals ; I would be glued to them :-)

Years ago, 25 anyway, my husband and I were out for breakfast at Maggie's = I say the name because I remember it and it was and still is a very pleasant place. You come see me and I'll take you there.
Anyway, at Maggie's I had my current notebook out and was 'taking notes' when the waitress - a woman my own age or older said she had her late mother's journals and they were like still having her mother with her. I doubt I or my progeny could luck out like that. Well wait they'd have all the things they DIDN'T like still with them.

Including me.

Just Annie July 11, 2023

I always have a notebook by my desk. For notes, thoughts, but as the girls have grown it's turned into a community notebook and I'll find their thoughts written down, too. And Charlotte sketches in it, too.

So sweet. We are eternally indebted to paper and pen(cil).

Regret is more than a waste of time for me, it is a waste of spirit. I have some of those old spiral notebooks, usually containing records that I keep for awhile and then abandon. Then I'll pick one up and start recording something else, farther into the pages. They are in a box behind me with other old things. Some were started over 30 years ago. I am an uncommitted journalizer...except here.

Serin July 23, 2023

I use paper notebooks at work, almost religiously, but somehow it's never been a part of my home routine.

ConnieK July 24, 2023

I'm reading backwards and looking forward to reading about your trip. You and I react realistically to change, I think, and I agree about refusing to wallow in regret. Learn and move forward. All my work is on computer now.
