Different Worlds in Lyrics

I wrote this a few years ago, about a friend, and another friend somewhat. It's interesting how people change. The first friend had no real interest in being in a relationship, and she denied the advances of the other friend. Now she has a boyfriend that she has been with at this point for years, and though I don't know her very well anymore, she seems to be quite interdependent with her significant other. The same occurred with another friend that I met later on. I wonder what it was that defeated their resistance to losing some of their individuality?

She's calling
Out for someone
To ease her doubts
And negativity
No divinity
Just waiting by the mailbox
For dreams never received

It's her type
That really gets you down
You kind of feel like a clown
She wants to stay the night
She doesn't want to spend the night

Can we really be friends
Can we really be friends
Can we be friends
You know what I want

Maybe afraid
Maybe naive
She won't take, a single chance
It's hard to believe
Then you feel deceived

Can we really be friends
Can we really be friends
Can we be friends

Can we be platonic
We can be platonic
You're the only one on it

Oh it's a tale
Of two different beings
From two different worlds
Meant for only one cause
But while we're on this earth
I guess we could stay for a while

Only if someday
You'll give it a chance
You owe it to yourself
You owe it to nature
Some divine creator
To create something yourself

She's calling
Out for someone
To ease her doubts
And negativity
No divinity
Just waiting by the mailbox
For dreams never received
