No one’s trying to legally invalidate my identity as a cis woman. Meanwhile, the ACLU is tracking 474 anti-LGBTQ+ bills, the vast majority of which are intended to strip trans people of their legal rights. That’s why we allies reinforce and reiterate “trans people are valid,” not because only trans people are valid, but because trans people are valid, too.
