  1. Just listened to Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, the public radio news and entertainment program that airs in my world on Saturday mornings. This time it was in Nashville TN and had country singer Brad Paisley as guest. Paisley has a nice Wiki which features photos of his two appearances at the Obama White House. Show was quite funny. Very funny, in fact.

  2. Jim is reading my Ohio book, the novel by Stephen Markley that I got from the library. I’m carefully not asking him if he likes it, or telling him repeatedly, all over again, how good I thought the book was.

  3. The Buick is all back together again. Good as new-ish. Our neighbor fixed it really well and in a timely manner without it costing much. How good a news is that? Jim washed it. I took it to town yesterday and it’s just nice to have it back again. I spent a long time trying to remember what year it is - it’s approaching twenty years old - but boy it’s a nice car. Wish us luck. And a few more years on the road. Wish the deers luck too. Tell them to look both ways before they cross.

  4. There is a downtown apartment tour Sunday in LaCrosse. Jim and I have gone to two of them in the past and enjoyed them. We don’t have tickets yet, but I think the two of us plus the newly put together Buick are going. The river is high, as in flooding, from northern snow melt. The bridge in Lansing is closed but can assume we can cross at LaCrescent. There was a train derailment on the Wisconsin side with cars going into the river.

  5. I’ve been using my coffee pot to heat water to make sugarless hot chocolate or sugarless coffee drinks or combinations of the two. Sometimes I put in a bit of coffee too. Semi-nice.

  6. I’ve been doing some outside walking - weather has been pretty good. I walked even a bit with a neighbor - the one who likes to walk alone, do I don’t suppose I can do it again. I need to get up to Joana’s to sweep up dead flies before John comes down again. He doesn’t like to do it himself.

  7. I finally got around to potting a few plants. Let me list them: a. A broken off cutting from a nice geranium that had rooted (some) in water. b. a white-edged English ivy that needed to be in a bigger pot c. I split a well-growing aloe type succulent in two and put each in a too small tin can - I need to buy canned tomatoes in bigger cans which make better flower pots - I hate to buy flower pots - sad me. d. that may have been it. I have a fairly well doing coleus in a way too small a pot that I need to get moved. Ah that’s what’s the future’s for.... huh?

  8. I like to get to 10.

  9. I have some pictures. Let’s see if any of them are easily available. Not really. Next time.

  10. Except for this one.

I bought a really nice Mueller electric kettle for $30 from Amazon. Holds 1.9 liters and will boil in just a few minutes. I use it for French press and pour over for coffee. Oh, and to heat water for oatmeal. It has a LED blue light when it's on and it shuts off automatically when it starts boiling.

Hooray about fixing the Buick. It is totally right that the universe rewarded your trust in human nature. Is the water touching the bottom of the bridge in Lansing? It is very considerate of you to sweep up dead flies for John. I know the plant nursery up north would give away used pots. Where is one of Gracie's ice cream buckets when you need it?

Oh no about the water in Lansing. That whole river space/basin holds a huge amount of water. There is surf though at Reno Bottoms.

Glad you enjoyed the radio show. sometimes it is good to change up our media as well as our waking paths. Nice of you not to comment on the book as he reads it.

WWDTM is a hoot, but it gets a lot harder if you fall behind the shows (on the podcast, it was never an issue when I caught them on the radio). I profoundly miss "Cartalk" too.

What is the plant? I recognize the flowers, but don't know the name.
