I yanked this from a good friend, and i’m bored.

Name: Chris, Ekhdal, Potatobean.

Age: 43 years old, 44 next month. Oh ye gods.

Where I live: Good old North of pittsburgh Butler PA, home of pennsyltucky personified.

What I Do: I take care of my mother unit who has Moderate to severe COPD. (Like I can go out and socialize and she’ll be ok, but there are days where she doesn’t do much, fortunately she knows her limits and on those days she stays in her room, and if i go out i make sure she has dinner, coffee things like that.

Siblings: One Brother.. our relationship is..... cold on good days, fridgid on most days, downright frozen on bad days. Right now its probably about 25F.

Hobbies: I play board games. I love them. I have loved playing games since I was little, and I honestly cannot fathom why people dont play them for enjoyment sometimes. I love video games as well, and these are my favorite two things I like to do. I dont mind reading, but I listen to books on CD more than anything.

Favorite Things

TV Shows: Jeopardy, Hogans heroes, Arrested Development, Star Trek, and this really odd Australian TV show called Danger 5, it is an absurd WW2 comedy about trying to kill hitler, but there is sex, booze, smoking, nazi dinosaurs, Over caffeinated Italian Submarines and of course Swiss tigers:
Here is the first episode in full, there are 2 seasons, The first is only 6 episodes but it is some of the strangest and absurdist comedy out there, It is also on Tubi and Freebee if you wish to watch more:

Movies: Citizen Kane, Death of Stalin, Doctor Strangelove, Royal Tenenbaums, Big Lebowski, Inglorious Basterds.

Books: I like the Kahlee Sanders Trilogy of Mass effect books, and Mass Effect Andromeda: Annihilation. I also like the reckoners series (I am actually listening to Reckoners Lux right now, and its good, even though I hated Zef worth a passion, and i’m glad he got killed TBH) I also liked Armada and Ready player 1 and 2 by Ernest Cline (although there are some really really cringy parts in RP1)

I’m adding some stuff as well:

Video Games: The mass effect trilogy is my favorite series in Gaming, Its just this huge grand space opera with great characters, great action, a great story, so much lore it makes my head spin, good books, just so much goodness from that. Heck some phrases I’ve picked up from this game. I just checked my playtime on it on my ps5 and I’ve played it for 530 hours! holy carp.

I also am a huge fan of the final fantasy series. I like Traditional RPGs, and these have always been good, Final Fantasy 8 is my favorite, and I frequent the MMORPG FF14 a lot too.

I’m a fan of the Horizon Series even if they frustrate me a bit. I like the archery and the story behind it. (melee combat sucks in that game)

The outer worlds is just absurd and strange sci fi dystopian crazy, I will probably get the Remaster when its not broken.

There is a game called Griftlands which is terribly underrated, it is a deckbuilding rogue like game with 2 combat systems and 3 totally different stories. I also love the nonsense talk when the characters talk. I’m ok at it but i have fun playing it.

I also need to get a bigger ps5 hard drive to store games lol.

Board games:
Empyreal Spells and steam: It is a magical train game where you can pick up and deliver goods around the board, but most train games your trains have to be in a line, not here, you skip spaces, have trains on all parts of the board and they can be in your network. Its fun, its easy to learn and it plays great with any number of players

Millenium Blades: Like Magic the gathering? Hate collecting cards? This game is Magic the gathering the board game. You collect cards, make a set, and try to make a “Deck” of cards to play in a tournament game and get points to get real points. Its so fun and so unique.

Ultimate Railroads: The pinnacle of Worker placement games, a game where your first round you score maybe 5 points but by the end of the game you can score 120 points and your endgame scores are like 450. Its cool because this version there are 4 ways to play (Russian, German, American and Asian, and they all play differently)

Sidereal Confluence, Trading and Negotiating in the Elysian Quadrant: Here me out. This game is basically trading cubes for cubes, and you use those cubes to make more cubes and then you are bidding on things to make even more cubes and cards to help you make more cubes. However, you are an alien race and each alien race is totally different, like I just played this last night and the race I played I rolled 3 dice to see what cards I could play, someone else had ships that they needed to run their converter cards and so on. Its crazy, it plays 9 and it can play under 3 hours. It is the most unique game out there.

Tapestry: This is a civilization sauced game where you are just moving up tracks and tracks, and making combos. It is a really pretty game with really pretty buildings, and your civilization is different than mine.. but this game isn’t really thematic, so you can have space travel before you invent archery. But that is second thought, this game is easy and fun.

Imperial Steam: Probably one of my most complex games, its a action selection/pick up and deliver game where you are just investing in a train company and trying to build a connection to trieste from vienna. Its complex, but every moving part makes sense.

Prêt-a-porter: Another heavier economic game but in this one you are making dresses and putting them up in fashion shows. It is worker placement, and while its easy to learn, there are a lot of little nuances.

Bullet<3: One of my most played games recently, it is a 20 minute shoot em up puzzle game. you have a heroine, you are pulling bullets from a bag and you are placing them on a board, and your heroine has patterns to remove bullets to push them off to your opponent or to a boss. I like it because its quick, I have I want to say 20 characters , its fun at 1-4 and it can be played cooperatively or competitively.

Twilight inscription: A 4x roll and write game, you flip a card, get resources, then you roll dice and allocate resources. The cool thing about it is there are 4 sheets and you choose which sheet to concentrate for that round, and then you have certain events to deal with. Its easier than it sounds.

Imperium (Classics/Legends): I call this “Age of empires” the card game, it is a deckbuilding game where you have a nation (Whether it be fictional or real) and you are just buying cards, conquering territories/tribute nations, and getting new cards from your nation deck. The rule book sucks TBH but its a great game.

So there are my top 10 board games lol.

Other Random Facts About Me

I do not tolerate any kind of bigotry. No homophobia, transphobia, any kind of hate is not allowed here. (Agreed here)

It really sucks now days, but I am still interested in Russian History/culture/food etc. Stupid freaking Putin Screwing that up, and i’m almost ashamed to call myself a russophile (Funny story about my board games, Ultimate railroads? The OG version was called Russian Railroads and I got it because the name was russian, and welp. Now look at it) Putin needs to be thrown into the sun.

I have had a plush dog i’ve slept with most nights. His name is fletcher.

American football is one of my if not the most favorite thing to watch on tv and follow, you would have to take a small nuclear bomb to my house to get me stop watching the NFL and even then it might not be enough. And as most people know I’m a huge fan of the packers (I’m glad the Rodgers situation is settled, I hope the Packers fleece the jets, but I’d of been ok with him being back, i’m a fan of the team, not the player) I have a shareholders ring, when I pass away, my ring will be buried in my ashes with me and all ashes of my kitties.

I like weird and absurd things, like art, humor, books, theater (I found waiting for godot on youtube and one of these days i’m gonna set aside 2 hours to watch it, i’ve always wanted to watch it) and lately i’ve found some AI generated programs on twitch, and it can be so odd and absurd.

I’m very much a night owl. (Same)

Thats all I can think of.

Hope y’all enjoyed that.

Keelah Selai.
