Feeling Better in 2014: The Year of Learning to Simplify

My mental outlook is much better today...something about the bright sunshine and kittens romping through the house kind of makes it impossible to get too down.

I'm still frustrated on the job hunting front. I'm a well qualified, well experienced candidate. I've filled out 30+ applications, yet no call backs. I'm a little mystified as to the reason. But, I'll just keep plugging along as well as I can.

Aaron found a position, though, working for a contact lens manufacturer that's about 15 minutes from the house. He's at testing right now (basic math, reading a ruler, etc), and then hopefully will be put straight into orientation/training. It's a good job, the pay isn't amazing, but there is a lot of opportunity for overtime, so it will help quite a bit.

We plan for him to take third shift, as that will make it easier to me to find a flexible job. Goodness knows there are no set schedules in retail! And it's difficult for us to employed at the same time, as the kids are home all day (and we don't have childcare), and we only have one car. It's a logistical nightmare, but we'll figure it out.

In the meantime, I'm trying to focus on other things so that I can keep myself positive. I started running the C25K yesterday, and I'm trying to put together a group of girls to help me assemble some kits for Days for Girls, which is an organization that provides reusable menstrual care items to girls in third world countries so they don't have to miss school. I'm hoping that by focusing on other things, my problems won't seem quite so huge.
