Because of turbulence, we landed late, at 8:30am, in the American Airline terminal at JFK. I was scared it would take an hour on the immigration line like when we came back from Europe. But no, they were much more organised at Terminal 8. It also helped that it was so early in the morning, so not many flights have come in yet. It only took half an hour to clear customs, and our luggage was already laid out at the luggage claim by the time we got there. We caught a 9:30am Long Island Rail Road to our station, and Uber took only 2 minutes to take us home. We were back by 10:15. It was a smooth trip back.
Now that we are back, there is a lot to unpack, but the La Professeure discovered a leak in the boiler and half of our house circuit shorted, so we needed an electrician and a heater technician to come in. So it was a dramatic return. Luckily both were available and fixed the issue, but not before my cough immediately got worse (dry air, I’m guessing?) so I’m now testing for COVID and La Professeure banished me to the man-cave. I slept 6 hours straight after they left, and then another full 9 hours tonight. By the time I woke up the next day, La Professeure had already fetched the rabbit back from the sitter. She was the hero of this incident.
So I needed the rest. I’m guessing having no sleep on the flight is not conducive to me fighting off the cold.

Oh noooo, what a crappy thing to come home to!
