Not in the mood to rehash the stuff from my earlier post. Wasnt a great day.
Had an appointment with my pain specialist. He’s trying me on some different meds. But he also wants me to contact a surgeon about doing an S-I joint fusion. Its a very specialized surgery. He gave me a website to read about it. None of the doctors in our local health system does it. I did find one in Frederick that does it though so Im going to try to get in for a consult at least.
Azzy just started kindergarten on Thursday. On Tuesday Kirsten went to the bus stop to get her and she didn’t get off the bus. She about panicked. Thankfully she kept her head and immediately called the school to find out if she got on the bus. The teacher and monitor said she had. The office got in touch with the transpo office who got in touch with the driver. He said there wasn’t anyone left on the bus. In the meantime the principal got in his car and drove out to the road they live on. He drove up and down the entire length 4 times to make sure she wasnt just wandering around trying to find home after getting off at a wrong stop. Finally he went back to her actual stop and waited with Kirsten.
The bus pulls up and says “she fell asleep so I didn’t see her. She’s still sleeping.” Kirsten had to get on the bus and wake her up.
Apparently she had a very slight temp in the morning. But she was acting normal so Kirsten didn’t think anything of it and sent her in. When she got home, no fever, just very sleepy. This morning another fever and no voice so Kirsten called the dr. She was seen and is being treated for bronchitis.
I also had them check her pinkie finger. She was born with what we thought was a bruise on the pinkie of her right hand. At the time the dr said it was probably harmless. I can’t remember the term used for it but it’s basically a tangled mess of veins. Think “Christmas lights” that are all tangled up. (I think its called “ Blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome”. Its right between the 2 joints of her finger and shes never been able to make a fully closed fist because of it. But it never hurts so the dr said to just leave it be, because it’s almost always nothing.
She was here on Friday and I noticed that it was very swollen and the coloring looked different. More red then bruised color. I took pics and sent it to Kirsten. Shes so used to seeing it that she doesn’t really notice it anymore. She didn’t realize it had changed so drastically. Oh and Azzy said it hurt if it was pushed on.
So i told Kirsten to make sure it gets looked at. Apparently when her dr first saw it, they took pics and put it in her file. In order to be able to compare it if needed. They took pics again today and were shocked at how much it had changed. They are concerned about it and are sending her to a pediatric dermatologist. Not really sure why its a dermatology issue and not a venous issue since it’s tangled up veins. But whatever.
They had told her from the beginning that if it ever got to a point where it was painful or she was completely unable to make a fist at all that it would need to be checked. She can still make a fist but only about half. And it hurts to touch it.
Always something!!
