I know it's been quite a while, but a lot has happened; some good, some bad. I finally have a full time job with benefits, and even though I am back in retail it is within the book industry. I have given up on becoming a librarian and have now had to figure out where my life is headed, but this is not the place for all that, I will go into detail in another book.

Deaf Girl Problems #9:

Having benefits I was finally able to replace my hearing aids which were not only slowly dying and out of warranty but also no longer fit right; being cic's (completely in the canal) there was no way to remold them. This time I went with bth (behind the ear) and so far I'm iffy on them. Granted this is probably due to the fact that my cousin is my service provider and she lives 5 hours away so I have yet to be in for my second fitting which should have occurred two weeks later, not the three months that it has been. The molds that were great (she mailed them out to me) are now very painful, and causing much more injury than the traditional new hearing aid blisters, so I have been using the generic little earbud thing in the meantime; the problem with this is that my ear canal is oddly shaped and so these things just slip out constantly, I need the cast molds. Since I have not been able to get back to have them drilled down and fitted a little better the entire thing has been a huge annoyance with me having to constantly push the receiver back into my ear. There is also debate as to whether or not the wire is too short, but at this point that's really not the main issue.

Good news is that I head down there for my second fitting on Friday! I am so excited! I can have my programing turned up and my molds properly fitted, and I get to spend time with my cousin, which will probably be very awkward this time due to a text accidentally sent to her about killing a sore throat with a shot of tequila, but that's a whole other story. I will be getting a long, long lecture. Seriously. Long and irritated mother style.
