Good Wednesday Evening!!

Another day of getting here later than usual. I had a busy day today. I got some things accomplished. Yesterday and today again I spent hours on the phone with my cell phone company trying to purchase a new cell phone. I got them to give me a deal over the phone. But then they needed to send a 6 digit code to my phone for verification. After two days of trying they could still not get it to work. I received several other texts during this time from others. There was no block. They would not send the phone to me without this code. I asked if the value they were giving me would still stand if I went into the store 25 miles one way. And they said they could not guarantee it. I was very angry, to say the least. I have been a 20+ year-long customer with this company. I finally hung up. After 3 hrs. My current phone is over 9 yrs old. I don’t get good reception. I don’t get half my messages. I need to upgrade. I am going to cancel my service with them. I don’t owe anything on my phone. I just have a monthly bill. I went online looking at other services. I had applied for a free phone with Assurance wireless. And was waiting to hear if I qualified. If I do I will turn this one off and go with that.

During the time I was on the phone a friend of mine texted and asked if I wanted to ride to town with her to get groceries. She was going to be stopping at Fareway and Walmart. I said sure. So we went and I stocked up on cat food and groceries I needed. I was trying to be careful with my food stamps. I spent $51. There was some chicken on sale and a few other things I couldn’t pass up. I needed cat food and toilet paper. So I spent $20 on those things. I didn’t think I did too bad. And I was so thankful to get to ride with my friend. Now I won’t have to go to town again for at least a week or more.

This morning I got online and filled out the paperwork for heat assistance. I had to send my bill, my proof of Social security, my ID, and then they called back for my SSN. She said she would send me an email when they got done reviewing everything.

We got back from grocery shopping and I got everything put away. I went online to check my email. And I already had a letter from Assurance for the cell phone and believe it or not a cellphone was delivered to my door an hour later. I was in shock. I guess I was not meant to purchase a new phone. That is why that fell through. I got it registered and set up and it’s charging. It is a brand new Moto G pure. A nice big phone. I am so appreciative of this. Everything is free. The service is through T-mobile. We will see how the service is. It should be okay. And then I will shut the other one with US cellular off.

The next thing that blew me away. I checked my email just about an hour ago. I was approved for a one-time payment for heat assistance. The one-time payment is $616.00. I am like WOW!! Is this really happening? That will pay my bill for 3 months. The letter said it was subject to household verification. But why would they send me a letter if there was doubt? The payment is sent directly to my electric company. I am in shock over this. I never dreamed I would qualify. This will help me so much if this goes through. I am going to call back tomorrow and ask a few more questions. It is too late to call now.

If anyone is struggling like I am I would really encourage you to apply for things. You never know if you just might qualify and get the help you need. With the food stamp allotment going down so much this is going to help me so much. This will allow me to pay off a credit card I used and have a balance of $300. So I won’t have that monthly payment. I won’t be paying $52 a month for a cell phone. I got help with my internet which dropped my bill to $59. If I get rid of my house phone it will be $39. So that will free up money to be able to afford groceries. The only other thing I need to get rid of is the Dish bill. I am feeling much better about my situation.

It was a beautiful day here. It got up to 67 degrees. The sun was shining all day. Rain moves in tomorrow. Scattered showers. I think the high tomorrow is supposed to be around the mid-50s. Friday more rain. It looks like a nice weekend is in store with temps in the 50s and 60s. It is so awesome. We didn’t even need a coat or jacket today. Spring rolls in on Sunday. Yay!!

Well, I am going to get off the computer and go out and take one more walk before the sun goes down. Gotta enjoy it while it’s nice. It was a great day today. I am so grateful
