“keeping the moon at bay, tonight.”
you whispered,
with your arms splayed ‘round my shoulders.
you puffed at my hair that obstructed the light,
washing it off my brow for a moment.
the marquee’s white glow transfixed me.
you whispered,
“it’s going to be quite the show, y’know,”
as you nudged me down the queue,
awash in a sea of teenage angst.
i felt nothing, really.
