Short, From the Beach in Everyday Ramblings

Yesterday, midday, at the far end of the beach. The tide is high in the mornings, so my inner pony is having to wait for midday to walk. Well, and yesterday I taught the morning practice from here. That was way fun. We set up the iPad to look out the window and I taught on the laptop with Most Honorable in camera range so the students not here could see the ocean and the waves in a separate window.

It is nice to be taking a break from my regular life even if it is only for a few days.

We went from heavy mist and rain when we got here to a most beautiful sunny and if not warm, at least calm, days. There is plenty of color, the ocean is changing all the time and this morning I could see the stars. So different from wet leaf strewn Portland. Here it is all driftwood and rocks on the beach. The public beaches here are clean. We did see a marooned jellyfish and a pair of bald eagles lazily circling the beach on our walk today.

And of course, a wide variety of dogs. Happy dogs. Wet dogs, playful dogs.

And some better than average surfers this weekend. Enjoyable to watch. As are the migrating flocks of birds.

We even splurged and got fish n’ chips. The brewpub was apparently not answering their phone, (we waited on hold 20 minutes) but Kes was able to walk up the street and order at the takeout window in person. Lots of folks out enjoying the sun, the late unexpected sun for us here.

Most Honorable is grading papers, Kes has been knitting. I think I will take a nap.

That is it. Carry on.

No sun here most of the week, waiting for some sun-induced inspiration here in the dark days.

It’s lovely to get away.
