I’m the court jester and you are the queen
Despite that I’ve fallen for you
Though I am the fool you are meant to demean
I’ll tell you that my heart is beating true

Run away, my queen, run away
Run away, with me, run away
A place of tyranny is not a place for an angel
A place of you and me would be heaven

The monarchy’s a food chain and I’m below the king
The way you smile at him make my heart begin to sting
Let my voice speak up, let you hear me loud and clear
You scowl my way and so I know you heard

With a wave of his hand my head goes on a spike
With the snap of his fingers I’m put to the blade
My lady points a finger towards me, my worst fears coming true
Please tell me, my love, what did I do to you?

I’m the court jester and you are the queen
Despite that I’ve fallen for you
The guillotine’s blade shines with a silver gleam
With one last smile I bid my love adieu
