After two days of struggle, I started all over again.

Was the needle in correctly? No. Turn the machine upside down and see if you can tell in what direction the needle should go. Find the book and see what it says. Rediscover how many thumbs you really have. G eventually puts the needle in the machine.

While I am on the needle page, I notice a paragraph about dropping the feet. Have I done this? No. So I drop the feet.

Are you using the correct foot? Yes, I am using the embroidery foot.

Thread? I am very aware that I am using gold thread on the top and navy blue in the bobbin. I was told at the shop that the gold thread breaks. Often. And it does. The slower I go, the less it breaks.

The end result was that I finished one row of crows sitting on a branch. Lots of leaves. Several butterflies, and one or two worms.

What are those things in the photo? I know they are off ships but wonder what their purpose is? I am amazed that you got the gold thread to work! I have never been successful, no matter how slow I go. Excited to see the finished project.

They are air scoups. The air goes in and cools of the engine room....all the rooms too. Pre air conditioning.

Oh that makes sense. I don't always care for air conditioning, I would probably like that old school method. Thanks.

Bobbins are sent as a trial, I'm sure of it. Good on you for getting it working.
