We did quite a few Christmas cruises. This photograph is from the Oosterdam which year we went I cannot remember. I’ve haphazardly saved all the Christmas photographs but cannot find the Oosterdam photos. Boy, we did party every December. The Automotive Museum and the Cancer Society Thrift store. Everyone dressed in their best having fun.

We did family gatherings. Year after year there are pictures of Duck and Dart. The children grow then go away. Grandkids grow even faster. There was one year that all but two of the 14 grandkids came to dinner.

I miss all this fuss. I do. I miss the friends that have moved away or died. In our new world all is quiet. The museum is closed. The store is open but I’m not there. The grandkids are in their own homes. Some, I know not where, and one in Spain. We will make it a kind year. Just us. Maybe a little Zoom with friends still with us. That ought to be delightful.

Himself: Playing space games.
Myself: Reading. I’m doing the Obama book in bits as it is heavy to hold and take in.
Reading: Obama.
Watching: Some new show plus this year’s British Baking Show.
Photo: Mine.
Gratitude’s: That I have all those wonderful photos to goo through.

For awhile this year I was reading heavy books and my thumbs started to ache all the time. Somebody needs to invent the perfect book rest.

I second this!

Pillow in the lap is me.

Pillow in the lap.

NorthernSeeker MageB ⋅ December 21, 2020

I've done that but the angle of the book leads to eye strain for me. I'm going to have to invent something.

I think the contraption would be a stand with movable book rest angles and heights...kind of a space arm sort of thing.

Having just finished the latest Expanse book, I can tell you that your idea is something I definitely could have used.

Marg NorthernSeeker ⋅ December 22, 2020

Sounds good. And can you adapt it to be used when lying down in bed - that would be great thanks. Ready next Tuesday you say? Perfect! :)

I think quiet, laid back Christmas is the best . ❤️
