Good morning everyone. I am having a splendid day so far today. Some of it has to do with the fact that I’ve done my OMR (Official Morning Routine) for two days in a row - and three days this week! There’s nothing like the feeling of starting the morning off right.
The OMR is simple and consists of the following:
-
1 snooze button snooze - only one! This is a toughie because if I allow myself more than one then the routine is broken. I’d love to be able to pop right up in the morning like I used to, but I’m working on that.
-
10 minutes of meditation. Thanks to [pandora] for showing me a simple way to accomplish this
-
30 minutes of exercise. I’ve found a workout routine that works for me right now. It involves no lifting and no strain on my neck
-
Bed made - shower - news - decaf coffee - dress - GO!
This simple routine helps me feel accomplished and ready to go in the morning. I don’t know why it’s been so hard during the pandemic. I’ve actually had this routine before. It was before I started going to Orangetheory at 4:30 in the morning (the INSANE routine that nearly killed me).
But after the carotid injury last year, I stopped working out for nearly a year (if you don’t count the walking), and the OMR fell to the wayside. And then 2020 happened.
Anyway. The OMR has not yet become a habit, but I’m working on that. Naming it, like I just did as I wrote out this entry, is something that helps me stick to my plan. I have a name for it now, and I just wrote a whole entry about it, so now it is A Thing.
Good things seem to happen when I feel like I’ve got my shit together in the morning. Already I’ve gotten compliments on my outfit when I dropped the dog off at her daycare AND a guy bought me a coffee this morning! I am crediting the OMR!
Better go. Presentation this morning. With this momentum, it will rock!
Happy Friday (the 13th, but we won’t mention that), All!
