DARKNESS IN PLAIN SIGHT, BROAD DAYLIGHT in "RESTLESS: POETICALLY-SPEAKING"

I’ve been blinded by biased simplicity,
seeing things in black and white, so literally.
The shame’s still within me,
‘though I know I’m not the one and only.

Have your minds also been corrupted,
by those with more privileges?
This whole system has been rigged,
that only a smaller few reap the most benefits.

Darkness has been in plain sight,
out in the open, violating rights.
The illusion’s stronger than your prescribed sleeping pills,
until reality really kills.

Where have we been?
We should’ve said something.
A lot we should have done,
before more innocence is stolen,
and many more souls are gone.

Don’t let darkness eat your heart out,
that you’re consumed by hatred and rage.
It leaves no room to breathe
even when your neck isn’t crushed
under someone else’s knee
in such senseless violence…
