Here's the dinner I want to make for Kenny and I for my birthday:
Baby spinach, heirloom tomato, avocado, and pine nuts with 25 year balsamic and champagne vinaigrette
Bronzed sea bass with lemon shallot butter
Roasted zucchini spears and Nantes carrots with fresh thyme
2009 Fritz Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Lemon mousse cake with gingersnap crust, whip cream, and raspberry coulis and fresh raspberries
Yes, I could get some kind of take-out. Yes, we could go out for dinner. But, dinner like that for two with tax and tip would be $140. I can make the dinner for $25, and then the bottle of wine is $55. Yes, we could have something simpler like pizza, but Kenny's diet makes it a bit tricky. The dessert is definitely not compliment with his diet, but I'm hoping he'll make an exception.
The nice thing about it, is that I can have things ready so that all I have to do is cut tomato and avocado, bronze the sea bass, throw the veg in the oven, whip the cream and open the wine.
