You know what? I never heard back from last week’s date, Ken Doll. Do you remember I’d met him on the same day I’d heard back from work AND gotten mugged AND while the pandemic raged on.
I’m sensing a pattern in these Pandemic Dates. See if you can spot it.
Name: Handsome But Ho Hum (HBHH)
Introduction Platform: Hinge
Age: 56
Relationship Status: Divorced I don’t know how long - seems like quite some time; one daughter, teenager
Job: Owns a promotional marketing company
Lives: In a BFE suburb - not a horrible trek, but not one that I’d like to do a number of times.
Length of Date: 1 hour 45 minutes
We Did: We met nearly halfway (a bit closer for me) and sat on a patio and had a couple of drinks. It was after lunchtime but I hadn’t eaten so I also ordered a salad. He did not eat - just drank straight vodka (???)
He Looked: Very, very handsome. Silver hair, ice blue eyes, great smile, VERY nice body, printed polo shirt, “dress” shorts (like a golfer outfit). He’s about 6’ tall. Really good looking dude.
I Looked: Sundress - short and black with little tiny beige hearts, ruffled at the neckline and hemline, sunglasses and bright red lips (we sat far apart on a patio)
Convo: This is the “Ho Hum” part. A lot of it is my fault because I couldn’t engage - at all. I couldn’t engage because he tried to HUG ME when we first met. I backed away and I’m afraid that it completely ruined our meeting. Our conversation was very high-level. I ended up not wanting to tell him anything about myself. He ended up seeming weird, but again, I think it’s because of our initial interaction.
High Point: The salad.
Low Point: The No-Hug and his reaction to me not wanting to touch.
How It Ended: His daughter texted (not sure if that’s true or not) and he said he needed to be home by 4. It was 3:40 and so we called it. He told me he’d walk me to my car, but he walked with me until I had about 100 feet left and turned and said BYE.
Chances Are: Nah. Not gonna happen. Ho Hum.
Date Rating: D- (I didn’t give it an F because we met at one of my favorite places in the world and the salad was so damn good).
Did you spot the trend?
