Captain Riker. in Open Diary.

I am rewatching “Best of Both Worlds”, and something is bugging me:

Why didn’t Riker stay as a Captain?

Spock, Scotty, and Kirk were all Captains on the same ship. But, come on. Riker saved Earth. He should have kept his battlefield promotion and gotten his own ship. Bring Commander Shelby as his first officer. Picard continues with Data as his first officer.

TNG could have continued, with Riker occasionally popping up. Heck, who says two ships can’t sail together in tandem? Especially with the Borg threat.

That said, in Star Trek: Picard, Riker should have been an Admiral. I digress.
