The Young Buck is back. They came in yesterday, and he came over last night. He is back to being firmly set on getting out of the Navy. Its frustrating, but it’s his decision. I’ve written him so many emails keeping him up to day as much as I could on the goings-on in the world, but he still doesn’t see the benefits of job security, steady income and health insurance. He is pretty certain the university is going to be open to in-person classes in the fall and that he will be able to fill a fulltime class schedule of in person classes and that he can wing it with a part time job. He’s too young and naive to care about health insurance during a time like this. He would be going on shore duty (easier than sea duty) and he’d be getting a hefty bonus. I only slightly want to slap some sense into him.

It was a good night, although he is now a superbly lightweight, lightweight. I guess 3 months of no drinks will do that to a person. We had strong mimosas and he ended up in the bathroom puking. I didn’t even get close to that feeling, and we had the same amount. He said he hadn’t eaten all day. I enjoyed spending the night with him. Apparently they were originally supposed to get back April 30th, but they got extended twice.

His last day in the Navy will be July 6th if he does in fact decide to go that route. I think he will. He even let some of his qualifications expire, so right now he can’t even stand certain watches. He didn’t tell me that in any of the emails lol. I’m interested to see if his attitude shifts as he gets more and more time to see and experience the craziness in his own eyes.
