As the party rode their wagon towards The Knuckle the ground became impassible for the horses. The party decided to tie them up in a small clearing and head on in.

Okkar confessed that he had left the doors open when he fled, that he’d only been in the first room, and that his skin had been calcified by the ghosts within that he had scuffled with. It took a few days for it to return to normal.

William knocked on the door, nothing happened so they kicked it in. (It was not locked, they are just nuts). They slowly entered the first room, a large room with pillars and bones all over the floor. Which rose up to create 2 stoneghosts while 2 more came from the walls behind them. They struggled a little but managed to kill them.

This hallway had a space in the ceiling and rubble on the floor below the space at one end. Each end had a door. The one to the south had 2 loopholes (used for shooting arrows through in defense). They noticed a portcullis in front of that door but the door was unlocked so they went in. The room had some empty barrels and tables in it aside from 2 levers. One was pulled down and the other was not. So they threw the lever and the portcullis in front of the door dropped. Attempting to lift the lever did nothing for the portcullis and they were forced to attempt to use brute strength to pull it open. They then decided to wedge it open with tables and barrels so that they could get back out.

They then went through the northern door to another hallway. This hallway had 3 doors so they went to the most western one first.

This door lead to sleeping quarters. A large room with bunk beds lining the walls and a large divider in the middle of the room. There were bones and rotted clothing everywhere and at the back of the room 2 more doors. Investigating the doors at the back of the room they discovered holes in the ground with wooden seats on them, also with holes in them. The room smelled faintly like manure and compost. William contemplated searching for gold but I asked him twice if he wanted to dig in ancient shit to find it.... and he decided no to. There was nothing in there anyways.... Nicole decided to use her fire breath on the bones and sent several bunk beds on fire but nothing really happened. They decided they were going to take a short rest here but were interrupted buy another stoneghost stepping out of a wall. After killing it they decided to go back to the wagon and have a short rest.

When they came back they entered the second door to the west and discovered the mess hall and a giant greed grub. William was shot with acid but was not harmed by it badly. Rocky attempted to jump on top of the grub and slid off the side (he said he was gong to jump on top and changed that because it would have been his action.... changed it after he jumped,.... which made me angry because you only get one action a turn…we clarified that real fast) They killed the grub and William looted it finding 8 gold nuggets worth 25 gold each. They found a kitchen area and procured 6 rusty knives they intend to give to Davin upon return to Pearlmere.

They went back into the hall and through the door to the east. Contained within was a bed, a wardrobe and a trunk. Rocky rushed in and tried to open the trunk and an earth elemental appeared and attacked him. After dispatching the enemy they rummaged through the trunk and found a comb and grooming kit,a silver key on a chain, a ledger, and a wooden box containing 5 potions. # of healing they decided to give to the fighters and 2 of vigor .... attempting to read the ledger failed (for lack of a good intelligence roll).

No obvious path to be taken from here they moved back to the first room and proceeded to the eastern door. It was locked so they tried to break into it. They spent some time taking turns hitting it. (I’ve really got to come up with something for this, like gaining exhaustion after so many hits or something, otherwise they just hit stuff till it works).... eventually the door opened. I as the DM was laughing because the dumb dumbs just picked up the key for this very door and hadn’t even thought of the key as they took turns attempting to break the door it.

This moved into a long hallway running North and south. To the north, on the end was a door, north and east is a door and north and west is a door. There was a portcullis just before the door to the south and another door with 2 loopholes beyond the portcullis. Between the area with the portcullis and the door was a stoneghost. The stoneghost attempted to lure them into a trap and ended up taking some damage before escaping the the room behind him just before the portcullis was dropped injuring William and Okkar. Suddenly arrows were being shot from the loopholes. Nicole cast a spell creating a 5x5 square of knives just on the other side of the door damaging their new attackers while William, Okkar, and Rocky attempted to lift the Portcullis. Once lifted some rocks in the wall shifted causing it to become jammed. They proceeded to the door. Nicole attempted to use a key on the door but the key did not fit the door, nor was it locked so she opened it. Inside were 4 stoneghosts. During the battle Okkar was attacked by Rocky and fell unconscious. At the end of the battle they administered First aid and took him outside the cavern. They tied him up to a tree and went to sleep for a long rest.

Ending this session....
