Wavering Faith in God, With Skin On

Somedays my faith isn’t just wavering, it is waving. My former pastor used to say you can’t have a testimony without a test! I have never liked test. I could have been a straight-A student, except for one thing. In order to get an A, I would have have to study. A novel idea that I did not grasp until I went back to college in my 50’s. And then it took me 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, but I was tied for 3rd in my class.
Why the difference? I learned the principle of relativity. What you get out of something is directly related to how much you put into it. And the same is true for faith. You must understand and then believe what faith is. It is the substance of things hoped for. Without the substance or the hope, you have nothing. Faith is believing God for something man can not do on his own.
Just don’t beat yourself up when your faith wavers and you fall flat on your face. The truth is, it’s not a matter of if, but when you will fail.

All you have to do is read the Old and New Testament to see that even many of 'God's great men' had doubts. And breakdowns and tried to flee from the Lord. And some threw temper tantrum. "Lord, why did you save Nivea?" Stomp, stomp, stomp. I'm just going to sit under this tree and pout.

Yes, I remember reading them all. Even John The Baptist, while he was in prison, sent his disciples to Jesus and ask, Are you really the one who it was prophesied would come or should we look for another? Doubt plagues us all at some point.
Thanks for listening!
