This time of year, meteorologists seem to have even more difficulty in telling us what to expect. Winter Storm Vulcan was a burp for us here. So much for a foot of snow and ice and downed trees and sulfur and brimstone. It should have been winter storm Emo Phillips. Predicted temps topping out at 40F topped out at 50F. It is supposed to rain in the morning. I won't be surprised to wake to more snow. Really, what other career path could you take and be wrong 90% and still have a job? I might have missed my calling.
Today I had four task on the list. I made it through 75% of the list, so I guess I get a C. If I had finished my taxes I would have made it to 100% and an A, but alas I can't find the receipt for the grand I spent to replace my front right maxillary incisor.
I only crossed off "get filters for humidifier" because once home from another attempt at every store that sells appliances I went online and ordered two sets. One to get through the rest of winter, and another to get through the first part of next winter.
The cute girl at Home Depot explained to me that they are considered seasonal items, and fall off the shelves once some line on a calendar is crossed.
Obviously why snow blowers and Christmas decorations magically appear at Lowe's and Home Depot by the end of September. Then gardening supplies, grills and tractors magically appear in February. Methinks they should adjust the lead time of stocking. Nothing like walking into Lowes in the middle of February looking for a snow blower belt and the first thing you see is grills and lawn furniture and lawnmowers. What makes sense in North Carolina or Arizona or Florida doesn't translate in Maine or Minnesota.
