It was pointed out to me that I haven’t done a reality check in the bath recently. I had to admit that I’ve been catching up on Netflix in the bath recently, and a new series of Grace and Frankie has started which I LOVE!

So I am not in the bath, and I’m not at home. I’m sitting in one of those stylish chairs that’s all made up of right angles and has no lumbar support in the cafe area of one of our sports centres while L does her football training. I’ve just agreed to join the committee… dammit, I’ve been trying to avoid committees!

WHERE: oh. I already did that bit… to the left me are vending machines and a bin, to the right are book shelves which I will explore one week! It’s freezing out and the warm air being pumped in is slightly too warm for me.

WEARING: I did a rare Friday of work today so just assume that all clothes are either snot or food smeared (same 13 month old did both!). Jeans (gap sale), 2003 Great North Run T Shirt, grey sweatshirt and my big, very warm khaki coat that cost £7.50 in a charity shop a few weeks ago is draped over the very right-angled arm of the chair. Jewellery wise, the main difference is a new belly button piercing. The old one healed up at the end of my pregnancy with T and, as she’s 14, I decided it was time to do something about it.

FITNESS UPDATE: after 19 days of no running due to a flu type virus 🦠 , I’m going back to running very slowly. I have run three times this week and they were shooooooort runs. As for weight. The levels of stress I’ve had this year have assisted me in making crap food choices and I’ve put approx two stone on. I’ve signed up to a weight loss app that has very good reviews and it’s supposed to help you to change your attitude to food.

IN THE NEWS: the Australian fire fighters are being helped by a little rain, despite Brexit (allegedly) being only a cuppla weeks away, I’m having to use up all my emergency food before it goes out of date!!! Trump is a dick splash, although not necessarily a news item, it seems like it is too.

READING: Leonard and Hungry Paul. I got it for my birthday and it’s… interesting.... I’m enjoying it, it’s really well written but is also quite strange.

ACTIVITIES TODAY: well, I got up at 5:15 to run (2.34 miles), then stretched, showered, woke L, fitted car seats, woke T, had breakfast, chatted to T while she ate, ushered L out of the door, welcomed kids in door. Played for a little while, took small kids to a little local zoo/farm park type thing. Came home for lunch. Kept 2yr old awake. He absolutely must not sleep during the day or he literally won’t go down until midnight! Said goodbye to small kids, went to shop for easy food, came home, folded one lot of washing after hanging out the next, packed for three people for a weekend away (R packs his own), made dinner, ate, lay on the sofa for fifteen minutes while watching El Ministerio del Tiempo on Netflix. Brought Lila to football training and now, here we are.

THINKING ABOUT: I really ought to take up yoga again. I feel so achy and I know that is, in part, my age (49) but I know I don’t do enough strength training or yoga around running.

PLANNING: a weekend in Glastonbury. T wants to buy a crystal necklace, we want to hike and I want to run, although I think I’ll head into Street instead of Glastonbury this time as there’s no way I’m strong enough to get over the Tor this year.

Oh, and I’m going to do a barbicide course so I’ll get a certificate to show I know how to sterilise my nail painting shtuff for when I finally start charging people for it!

Not an exciting reality check but a good way to check in.
