Sans headache in What's Happening

Yesterday my friend messaged me for the first time since June. She got mad at something I said to her and stopped talking to me. I played along by not messaging her either which basically created a stalemate. The worst part about this petty little battle of silence is that I left my German-made Henckels santoku knife at her house. My Dad got it for me a few Christmases ago. I really wanted it back.

She said I could come over last night and get drunk. That would have been my safest bet because I could get drunk there and not drive home, but I went with the riskier option: I met some old coworkers at the bar.

I stayed until 2:00am, but it’s not what you think…

I never really got drunk. I ordered a rum and Diet Coke when I first got there. I couldn’t believe how strong they made it. It was so delicious. The bar never makes them that strong. They were trying to tempt me. I had to keep control.

I switched over to Bud Lights and just drank them very slow throughout the night. Can you believe this? For the first time ever I switched to a drink that was WEAKER - on purpose! I didn’t need to do this. I could have got drunk and took an Uber home. That’s the old me though.

Despite never reaching peak levels of intoxication. I still had a great time. Best of all, I’m not hungover this morning.
