Musings of a mad man in Life After 60

I am a country music fan from waaaaay back. Today I had this earworm from long ago during a medical test. I was told I have a premature ventricular contraction or an extra heartbeat. Buck Owen began to sing in my head, “My heart skips a beat when we walk down the street.” It was a sign of deep devotion and love. I have it and it is a medical problem.
And all this time I thought it was love. Perhaps when I was younger it would have been but now it is something to be concerned about. My body has started to fight against its self. Trust me when I say, a nuclear stress test WILL!! But the really insulting part was, “135 BPM is the rate you need to achieve for someone your age to stress your heart.” Someone my age indeed. It doesn’t take 135 BPM to stress my heart.
The good news was my cardiologist told me he would guarantee I would not die from another heart attack…the bad news he said my main artery wall was thin and would likely break open killing me, much like the way John Ritter died. I am not sure but I think I would rather die from a heart attack. Of course, my choice is to die in my sleep or in the arms of a beautiful redhead. Just kidding folks, a merry heart doeth good like a medicine. I intend to live to be 92, the age my mom passed.
