Family Reunion in Life After 60

It’s that time of year. Family reunion tonight and high school reunion next week. I would describe my family as functional/dysfunctional with a touch of sarcastic humor…and I wouldn’t have them any other way.
We were not rich enough to be dirt poor growing up. The dirt poor looked down on us. But we survived. Some of my family was abused, neglected, and treated worse than a dog. There is no other way to describe it. But we grew up, despite the odds being stacked against us. And we are all better for it. We are in no way rich, but we are comfortable and understand hard times. While it wasn’t fun at the time, those hard times softened are hearts and gave us resolve to survive in the worst of times and enjoy the best of times. And tonight for 3 hours we laughed as we relived our childhood because we realized we were blessed.
