Today was Aaron’s first day of high school and Kayla and Timmy’s last first day of high school. My aunt and uncle have a car they don’t really use. They surprised us by offering it for Timmy and Kayla to use. It is still fairly new. This morning, Kayla drove Timmy and Aaron to school. I was petrified the whole time, although they’ve been really good with their driving. I definitely had a moment of, “They don’t need me anymore.”

Right now the schedule works out for all three of them to ride to and from school together. They all have sports practice after school. Timmy does soccer, Kayla does driving, and Aaron does cross-country. We may have to draw up a schedule for the car as the year goes on.

I seem to remember I had a bit of senior-itis my senior year. The twins are actually taking an intense course load this semester. We will see how that works out. They will also be doing college applications.

Aaron says there is more freedom in high school. They can go to their locker between each class, and at lunch they can go through a whole wing of the school. They don’t have to stay in the cafeteria. He is taking two electives. This means he will need to be more organized, as the kids won’t all have the same assignments like last year.

This is the first year all three of the kids have been in the same school since the twins were in sixth grade and Aaron was in third grade. That was in 2014.
